The book Night

Animalization of humans is dominant in the book. Eliezer comments him selves on how prisoners themselves have become inhuman in the concentration camps. The conditions in the concentration camps were inhuman. Starvation, hard work, beating and shooting was beyond what the basic needs of human beings .the jaws were dying in large numbers as the Nazi intensified their irrational behaviors.” I could see him kicked by the Nazi guards…and in the evening I massaged him to reduce the pain” (p115). Ones a proud man, Elie is reduced to the life of shame as he witnesses his father reduced into the helplessness. Hi losses faith in human relationship with God as he watched desperate children carried by a lorry thrown into fire. Although Elie and his father were luck that time, already his soul was completely destroyed. Only animals can do this but not human being to fellow human beings

2. Changes in tone in the book “Night” helps to bring out the mood of the various characters and the situation that Jews went through. The tone changes right from the beginning and as the story unfolds, keep on changing the tone. “One by one they passed in front of me, teachers, friends, others…..they went by fallen, dragging their packs, dragging their lives.”(p97).This carries sad tone that brings about the suffering the Jews endured. They were beaten, denied food and overworked. Their bodies became weak and death was not so far from them. “I saw them disappear into the distance; my mother was stroking my sister fair hair” (p81).This tone shows the despair Elie had as he watched his mother and sister disappear into the unknown destination under the watch of brutal Nazi guards. Tone as used in this book serves to bring out the mood and suffering the Jews were going through during the holocaust.
